For those of you that have read the 'Events' page of my website, you will know that I cover most events, but not equine events.

There is a common misconception that if you are a photographer, you must be able to photograph anything. Actually, nothing could be further from the truth. You need to know and understand the subject you are photographing ideally. Even still life photography is an art unto itself.

I have to confess that I know I know nothing about horse but, when I heard that specialist equine event photographer (and good friend) Michael Martin was running the event photography for a horse show at Newark today, I had to go along to see him. He put me to the test photographing some of the events and, suffice to say I failed dismally.  I shall stick with what I know and love - people photography. Thank you Michael for an informative, enjoyable and slightly embarrassing afternoon. Here are a few that, despite not quite 'hitting the mark', I like anyway:

We don't normally advertise the fact that we also provide product photography and commercial photography services in Lincoln and surrounding areas.

I did some shots today for a jeweller friend of ours. They supply exquisite engagement and wedding rings at Colonia. They agreed to lend us some for a couple of hours to see what we could come up with. I hope that we did them justice? If you want to see more, check them out at: http://www.colonia-jewellery.com/

Meanwhile, I hope you like our product photography shots from today:

As I've said before, we are so fortunate with our location, there is always something going on.

This weekend has been Lincoln Grand Prix. The riders had a gruelling thirteen laps before heading for a winning line up a torturous cobbled hill. Everyone that took part deserves a medal but there can only be one winner.

This image was taken sat on the windowsill of our studio. We will add more images later.

And as promised, here are a few more:

Are you looking to give your Dad something special this Fathers Day? Why not give him a real treat with a framed desktop print of his child(ren).

Book your portrait sitting by 31st May 2012 and we can have your prints ready and framed in time. This is a gift he will always remember!

Well, I know it's a while since I have blogged but it has been totally manic getting the photography studio ready for opening.

I am pleased to announce that we are now well and truly open for business in a superb boutique studio at the very top of Steep Hill in Lincoln, overlooking the magnificent and historic Castle Square.

I would normally attach some photographs but I am in the process of getting a video put together that will go on the main website. This will show you where we are and what we do.

Please pop in and say hello if you are in the area. It is always advisable to phone first though, just to make sure we will be about!

We look forward to meeting you.

Ian

Well, manic doesn't really describe it; boxes and bags everywhere, things packed that we need ... but it will all be worth it.

We move house in just over a week and then I am hopeful that work will start on the photography studio around 9th April.

All things going well, the studio should be open before the end of April. There will be regular updates once work starts so watch this space.
