Star Photography Blog

A short description about your blog

For those of you that have read the 'Events' page of my website, you will know that I cover most events, but not equine events.

There is a common misconception that if you are a photographer, you must be able to photograph anything. Actually, nothing could be further from the truth. You need to know and understand the subject you are photographing ideally. Even still life photography is an art unto itself.

I have to confess that I know I know nothing about horse but, when I heard that specialist equine event photographer (and good friend) Michael Martin was running the event photography for a horse show at Newark today, I had to go along to see him. He put me to the test photographing some of the events and, suffice to say I failed dismally.  I shall stick with what I know and love - people photography. Thank you Michael for an informative, enjoyable and slightly embarrassing afternoon. Here are a few that, despite not quite 'hitting the mark', I like anyway:

We had a great portrait shoot with Kerrian and her Mun, Mandy this morning in our Lincoln Studio. As I like to tease people a bit, here is just one for you to see. You will have to wait for the viewing for the rest. I hope you both enjoyed it.

We don't normally advertise the fact that we also provide product photography and commercial photography services in Lincoln and surrounding areas.

I did some shots today for a jeweller friend of ours. They supply exquisite engagement and wedding rings at Colonia. They agreed to lend us some for a couple of hours to see what we could come up with. I hope that we did them justice? If you want to see more, check them out at: http://www.colonia-jewellery.com/

Meanwhile, I hope you like our product photography shots from today:

Well, doesn't time just fly by? It certainly doesn't seem a year since the last prom photography season and here we are again.

Since last season we have relocated to Lincoln and can therefore offer prom photography in Lincoln and the surrounding area. We are also able to provide prom and event coverage now too.

We are really looking forward to providing some stunning prom portraits in our new studio on Steep Hill in Lincoln.

For posterity, this is one of the last prom shoots we did:

Are you looking to give your Dad something special this Fathers Day? Why not give him a real treat with a framed desktop print of his child(ren).

Book your portrait sitting by 31st May 2012 and we can have your prints ready and framed in time. This is a gift he will always remember!

We are on the verge of announcing our special offer for wedding photography in Lincoln, Lincolnshire and surrounding counties. This is part of our massive giveaway to celebrate the opening of our new boutique photo studio on Steep Hill in Lincoln, Lincolnshire.

If you are looking to book a wedding photographer in Lincoln or surrounding areas in the next two months, you need to like our facebook page - this is where they will be published first.

Make no mistake, this is a genuine offer with no catches, but it will only be available for a short time. Like the Facebook page on any of our main website pages (it can be found at the bottom of the page).

Well, manic doesn't really describe it; boxes and bags everywhere, things packed that we need ... but it will all be worth it.

We move house in just over a week and then I am hopeful that work will start on the photography studio around 9th April.

All things going well, the studio should be open before the end of April. There will be regular updates once work starts so watch this space.

Whilst in Lincoln recently I had breakfast in the White Hart Hotel in the Bailgate area of Lincoln. I was fortunate enough to chat to a number of the staff there about the wedding packages that they do. I must congratulate them all on being so well informed and helpful. I can only imagine the service they must offer for clients wanting a great wedding venue in Lincoln.

We are getting quite excited about the move now and just can't wait for our first opportunity to carry out wedding photography in Lincoln Cathedral.

We visited Lincoln just over a week ago. It was pouring with rain and very cold but I still had the camera working. This image was taken very close to the location of our new studio - still can't disclose the location yet as discussions are still underway.

If you are getting married at Lincoln Cathedral why not get in touch - we are so looking forward to it, we might even break the habit of a lifetime and give a discount!

Well I was hoping to attach an image but my blog software is not playing ball - a trip to the support desk is needed!

Here it is at last - turns out the blog software has fallen out with Internet Explorer - don't you just love I.T. !

Yes, it's exciting times. We are pleased to announce that Star Photography will be moving to Lincoln this Spring.

It is a mamoth job to get everything organised but we will be opening a boutique studio for discerning clients. We can't say too much at the moment as leases etc have yet to be finalised - sufficient to say it will be fit for a Star!

Our Wiltshire wedding clients that are booked with us need not worry - we will continue to offer a national wedding photography service - we will be in touch with you all soon to discuss it with you personally.
